"Rhapsody (for Unaccompanied Violoncello)" was composed by Mark Wolfram as a graduation gift for his nephew Paul David Wolfram (a 'Cello major) from Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin. Based on the concept of a contemporary approach to a Bach 'Cello Suite, this challenging work features many tradionally idiomatic 'cello techniques applied to a contemporary serial composition. "Rhapsody (for Unaccompanied Violoncello)" is a GRADE 4-5 Violoncello solo and highlights the performer's mastery of complex rhythms, large intervalic jumps, contrasting dynamics and several different contemporary performance techniques. This composition provides the performer with an opportunity to highlight tone, musicallity and audience pleasing technique - perfect for the recital hall or the salon. The duration is approximately 10-1/2 minutes. A full-sized Violoncello part , program notes and a composer biography is included. Available only through this website from Sound Studio Publications. |
